The Hong Kong Aspiring Medics Conference is the must-attend event of the year for school students interested in becoming future doctors. Hosting world-renowned inspirational speakers, this conference will enrich your understanding of a career in medicine as well as provide you with a rare opportunity to network and talk with those who have succeeded in the world of medicine. You'll also be able to participate in group tutorial sessions to learn more about your specific interests!
This conference is completely run by students for students, and this year, we've got even more speakers and activities for you to take part in. If medicine, surgery, or healthcare is your dream career, this conference is for you!

Dr Michael Dixon
Head of the Royal Medical Household and Chair of the College of Medicine UK
Michael Dixon LVO, OBE, MA, FRCGP is a world-renowned healthcare leader who served as a chair of the NHS Alliance and President of the NHS Clinical Commissioners; he currently chairs the College of Medicine, is a visiting professor at University College London, and is King Charles' personal doctor.

Dr Navin Nagesh
Teaching Fellow at the University of Oxford and Cardiology Doctor
Dr Navin is currently a teaching fellow at the University of Oxford alongside his role as a Cardiology doctor. Throughout his career, he has gained insight into academia, research, and medicine, all of which he wishes to share with future healthcare professionals.



Isabelle Wachsmuth
Health Systems Expert at WHO Geneva
Isabelle Wachsmuth is working at the World Health Organisation WHO headquarters leading an innovative incubator Art Impact For Health and SDGs to grow art and culture within the medical environment. This new innovative strategy aims to build resilient individuals, communities, and health systems, creating a global creative and organic community movement that advances the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Health for All.

Dr Bogdan Chiva Giurca
Clinical Doctor, Harvard GHI Collaborator, NHS Clinical Entrepreneur
London-based and award-winning Dr Bogdan Chiva Giurca has authored three medical textbooks and is the Global Alliance and Clinical Champion Lead for Social Prescribing. Alongside his clinical duties, he has also undertaken various projects in fields such as Global Health, Social Prescribing, and Healthcare Teaching.




Dr Christopher See
Clinical Lecturer, Fellow of AcadMed and HEA, Medical AI researcher
Dr Christopher See is a medical lecturer and researcher at the CUHK Faculty of Medicine. With a medical degree from the University of Cambridge, a Ph.D. from HKU, and further degrees from Oxford, and Edinburgh, Dr. See specializes in gamification, e-learning, and the use of Artificial Intelligence in medical education. He has been awarded fellowship of the Academy of Medical Educators UK and the Higher Education Academy for his excellence in teaching

Teodora Popa
Scientist (Genetics) and Teaching Fellow at University College London (UCL)
Teodora is a recognised London-based scientist working in genetics, personalised medicine, and in vitro fertilisation. She also leads the Master's programme in Personalised Medicine at UCL. She is passionate about using the latest technology, such as virtual reality and artificial intelligence, to teach science and medicine.



Dr Gareth Lau
Hong Kong-based doctor
Dr Gareth graduated from Exeter Medical School and has since returned back to Hong Kong to continue his work as a clinician. With experience in two different healthcare systems, he brings a unique perspective to his practice. His current interests are in surgery.

Speakers from the CUHK Medical Society Executive Committee include:

The Hong Kong Medical Society of the United Kingdom
HKMSUK is a student-led non-profit organisation representing Hong Kong students receiving medical education and training in the UK. They provide a platform for students to network, share their experiences, and engage in cultural and academic exchange activities. Through its various initiatives and events, HKMSUK strives to foster a community who are passionate about improving healthcare and ensuring the success of future healthcare professionals
HKFYG
The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups
The HKFYG is a non-profit organisation that has been serving the youth community of Hong Kong for over 60 years.
The HKFYG plays an important role in promoting public health and improving healthcare outcomes in Hong Kong by providing health education, counselling services, and leadership training to young people. By promoting healthy lifestyles and addressing mental health concerns, the HKFYG reduces the burden on the healthcare system and contributes to a healthier population.

If you cannot join us in person, you can attend the conference online, as the conference will also be streamed live. However, we strongly recommend in-person attendance (it's free-of-charge!) as you will be able to meet doctors & scientists in person. You'll be able to network and gain invaluable advice from our medical students, doctors, and healthcare professionals.
